Hameed mentally a teen - Afridi

Pakistan one-day captain Shahid Afridi on Sunday said Yasir Hameed has the mental age of a teen, after the batsman was apparently caught out by an undercover reporter.

Hameed denied telling a British newspaper that his teammates were corrupt after apparently being caught out by the News of the World describing a culture of betting scams.

The tabloid said Hameed had "sensationally confirmed" its report last week that some Pakistan players had accepted money to fix aspects of the final test match against England in London.

"He's 30 or 31; mentally he's 15 or 16, sitting with somebody he doesn't know, saying these type of things," Afridi told a press conference in Cardiff after England's five-wicket Twenty20 win over Pakistan at Sophia Gardens.

"We've known him for a long time and people know which type of character he is.

"He's done this sort of thing many times."
