Elgar contributed 61 not out off 43 balls while Rossouw blazed his way to 61 not out off 47 deliveries as the 127-run second-wicket stand off 14.3 overs helped the Knights to 133 for one after 15.3 overs to easily overhaul the Dolphins’ 131 for five.
The bonus-point win was the Knights’ first of the competition and lifted them off of the foot of the points table into fourth place with the Dolphins slipping below them after losing their third match on the trot.
The Knights endured a rocky start to their innings when Loots Bosman (3) was bowled by offspinner Prenelan Subrayen.
But Elgar showed his intentions by smashing the third ball that he faced for six while Rossouw showed his immense power when he slammed four fours off an over from fast bowler Craig Alexander.
Opening batsman Rossouw, who struck nine fours and a six during his knock, was the first to reach his fifty, off only 38 balls, while Elgar needed just one more delivery to raise his half century while his innings included eight fours and a six.
Rossouw compiled a chanceless innings while Elgar gave up just one chance when Subrayen put down a tough caught-and-bowled effort.

Khaya Zondo and Vaughn van Jaarsveld had earlier provided the bulk of the runs for the visitors.
Opening batsman Zondo compiled a solid 43 off 42 deliveries with four fours while Van Jaarsveld thumped his way to 39 not out off 29 balls as the Dolphins battled to get to grips with a slow pitch after winning the toss and electing to bat.
The Knights’ bowlers took full advantage of the conditions and between them they conceded just 10 fours and no sixes during the innings.
Seamer Johan van der Wath was the most successful bowler with figures of 2-29 off four overs while veteran left-arm spinner Nicky Boje captured 1-23 off his four overs. Elgar, another left-arm spinner, finished with 1-11 off two overs.
Jonathan Vandiar (18) and Zondo put on a tidy first-wicket stand of 46 off 7.2 overs before the left-handed Vandiar walked past a well-flighted delivery from Boje and was stumped.
The Dolphins, somewhat surprisingly, pushed the rookie Subrayen (9) up the order to three but he did not last long before he was bowled by Elgar.
Zondo was holding the innings together but he fell within sight of a half century when he chipped a delivery from Van der Wath to Shadley van Schalkwyk at square leg.
Zondo departed in the 15th over with the score on 92 for three and Van Jaarsveld and Ravi Bopara (9) tried their best to up the run-rate but Bopara fell in the search for quick runs when he holed out to long-off off the bowling of seamer Dillon du Preez as the visitors struggled to 113 for four in the 18th over.
Cameron Delport (8) was out leg-before to Van der Wath in the penultimate over of the innings with Robbie Frylinck ending not out on one.
