Cricket | RAM SLAM T20 Challenge

Wet start to T20 competition

The Sunfoil Dolphins’ rain woes continued on Friday as their opening match of the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge against the Nashua Titans was abandoned without a ball been bowled at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead in Durban.

It was the fourth out of six limited overs match for the KwaZulu-Natal franchise to be washed out this season and is sure to add to their frustrations after genuine signs of progress under coach Lance Klusener this term.

The Dolphins ended third in the Sunfoil Series, while they were also in play-off contention during the Momentum One Day Cup before being hit by the rain.

Six of their games were rain-hit in 2011/12 – including five abandonments – although they still managed to finish fourth.

The Titans are the defending champions in the 20-over competition.

Next up for the Dolphins is a meeting against the bizhub Highveld Lions next Friday, while the Pretoria franchise face the Johannesburg outfit in a Gauteng derby on Wednesday.
