Lions through after washout

Rain washed away any hope of play at De Beers Diamond Oval in Kimberley in the Momentum One Day Cup clash between the the bizhub Highveld Lions and the Chevrolet Warriors on Wednesday.

After two hours and 45 minutes of consistent thundershowers, umpires Johan Cloete and Gerrie Pienaar called play off without a ball being bowled.

The result means the Lions finish top of the log and will host the final of the One Day Cup at Bidvest Wanderers in Johannesburg on December 14, whereas the Knights have failed to qualify, their campaign ending in a third no-result this season.
