Warriors, Knights day one abandoned

The first day of the Chevrolet Warriors Sunfoil Series match against the Chevrolet Knights was abandoned without a ball being bowled at Buffalo Park in East London on Sunday.

Umpires Adrian Holdstock and Dennis Smith had no doubt that conditions were unfit to play at the start of the day but if they were in any doubt about how things might pan out for the rest of the day, they needed to look no further than third umpire Ian Howell, whose first-class playing career spanned over two decades playing for Border.

Play was officially called off for the day at the time it was supposed to start.

The toss will now take place on Monday morning in what will become a three-day game – although the weather forecast suggests that further delays could be on the cards.
