Pakistan draw their warm-up match

Pakistan drew their warm-up match against the South African Invitation XI at Buffalo Park in East London on Monday as bad light stopped play and stumps were called more than an hour early with the hosts on 190 for five, 133 runs short of a win.

The visitors were all out for 250 early on the final morning after resuming the day on 240 for five with the tail failing to emulate the heroics of Umar Gul 49 (76) and Sarfaz Ahmed 93 (161) from the first innings.

The hosts were quite shaky in their reply as dark clouds hovered above and the ball kept low, assisting Pakistan’s bowlers quite significantly.

The South African Invitation XI lost two wickets before lunch with both Andrew Puttick 7 (16) and Stiaan van Zyl 7 (6) being dismissed cheaply -- Junaid Khan and Umar Gul picking up a wicket apiece.

Davy Jacobs was dismissed shortly after lunch for 36 with 7ft1 paceman Mohammed Irfan picking up his first wicket.

Cody Chetty followed after adding 29, becoming Irfan's second victim of the day.

Vaughn van Jaarsveld added 43 off 55 before he was caught and bowled by Saeed Ajmal and the hosts were in a spot of bother at 146 for five still 162 runs away from a win.

Justin Ontong and Dane Vilas, however, combined before the break and safely guided their side to tea.

After the break, Ontong managed to notch up 51 off 81 while Vilas grafted for eight off 39 balls before bad light intervened and stumps were called with the hosts still needing 133 runs to win.

Earlier in the day, Sarfraz Ahmed was the first man out, trapped leg before by Kyle Abbott and the wicketkeeper had to depart for 19.

Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq was the next to go after contributing a gritty 55 off 138 balls.

It was Abbott who did the damage yet again, clean bowling the captain as the visitors started to stutter just a little bit in overcast conditions.

Ajmal and Umar Gul followed shortly after, Gul clean bowled by Abbott and Ajmal dismissed by Beuran Hendricks.

Abbott finished the innings with impressive figures of 13.4-5-26-4 for the hosts while Mohammed Hafeez 83 (109), Nasir Jamshed 51 (122) and Misbah-ul-Haq 55 (138) did the damage with the bat for the visitors.
