Davids named Titans captain
The Titans on Friday evening announced top-order batsman Henry Davids as captain of the team for the 2012/13 Sunfoil Series season.
He takes the place of Martin van Jaarsveld, who remains captain of both the One-Day and T20 squads.
Titans coach Mathew Maynard said Davids will be a valuable addition to his side.
"Henry is hugely respected within the squad as well as having an astute cricket brain," said Maynard.
"I look forward to working with him as we look to consolidate our position as the leading franchise in South African cricket."
Davids is an experienced right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-spin bowler, who made his first class debut at the age of 20 for Boland during the 2000/01 season, before moving to the Cape Cobras.
Following his exceptional performances in the 2009 Champions League Twenty20 for the Cobras, when he finished as one of the top ten run-scorers in the competition, he moved north to join the Titans.
Davids has brought enormous experience to the batting line-up over the last three years and settled well into a new environment.
The 32-year-old made more than 5000 career first-class runs, including 10 centuries.
