Kepler joins Lions staff
The Highveld Lions on Monday announced that the services of former South African cricket captain Kepler Wessels have been obtained specifically for the Champions League T20.
Wessels, who has been contracted as the team's strategic cricket consultant, is thrilled about working with the team.
"I am very to happy to work with the team and have worked well with the coaching staff and senior players in the past. I look forward to using my experience to help the team perform to the best of their abilities," Wessels said on Monday afternoon.
"In 20/20 cricket, anything can happen and if the team play good and perform well especially under home conditions, they can do very well." Wessels added.
Head coach Dave Nosworthy is looking forward to including Wessels into the support staff.
"Kepler brings vast experience and knowledge which is what I think may just give our players the edge short term, and more importantly proper understanding of true professionalism in the long term.
"Personally, I am really looking forward to having Kepler form part of our team structures and management during the preparational stages of the Champions League and also during actual tournament time. I have no doubt that his expertise will greatly assist us all in our quest to surprise a few."
Wessels joins the Highveld Lions in early August.
