Mumbai Indians fined for slow over-rate

The Mumbai Indians were fined last night for failing to bowl the required number of overs in the time available during their Champions League T20 cricket match against the Chennai Super Kings at the Wanderers, in Johannesburg.

At the end of the innings, and once allowances had been taken into consideration, the Mumbai Indians were assessed to be one over short of the required rate.

Mumbai Indians' captain Harbhajan Singh was fined R13 000 and each player was fined R6500.

If Mumbai repeats this offence during its next game of the tournament, a one-match ban will be imposed on Singh.

The Mumbai Indians lost their match by six runs and will now face the Sydney Sixers in their final group match in Durban on Monday.
