Mbhalati passes fitness test

There was good news for the Titans on the eve of their Karbonn Smart Champions League T20 match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Newlands on Sunday.

Strike bowler Ethy Mbhalati, who suffered a mild strain at the back of his right hamstring in the previous match against the Auckland Aces, has made a full recovery.

“Ethy was put through a rigorous fitness test by our medical team at Saturday morning’s practice,” commented Titans team spokesperson Gerald Dros. “This included bowling a full spell and he came through with flying colours.”

The Titans will thus have a full squad of 15 from which to select their match day XI.

The Titans are currently top of the log with full points from their first two matches.

Both Sunday’s matches will have a big bearing on semifinal qualification.

The Perth Scorchers play the first match of the double-header against the Delhi Daredevils (1"30pm start) and this is a must-win encounter for the Western Australia franchise.

This match will feature notable draw cards such as Herschelle Gibbs, the Marsh brothers and Brad Hogg for the Scorchers and Kevin Pietersen, Morne Morkel, Virender Sehwag and Ross Taylor for the Daredevils.

With Gibbs playing for the Scorchers and Jacques Kallis for the Kolkata Knight Riders there will be plenty of local interest as well for the Newlands faithful in both matches.
