Before you know it the cries of, “lights, camera, action” will be reverberating around the cricket stadiums of the country as the entertainers briefly pack away their whites and drag out the coloured kit for cricket’s version of the quick fix.
Synonymous with the one day game will be the players’ chosen songs belting out from the stadium speakers as they prepare to do their stuff.
As you are aware, that is the only bit of encouragement I need to once again provide my much awaited annual top 25 hit list, exclusively to the SuperSport Zone……. Enjoy!!
1) I WANNA BE SEDATED by THE OFFSPRING as chosen by Robin Peterson following the carnage he felt from Brian Lara’s bat at the Wanderers.
2) SAD EXCHANGE by FINGER ELEVEN has been chosen by Andre Nel following his much publicized tongue wagging incident with Chris Gayle at the Wanderers.
3) CRUSHED LIKE A FRUIT by IN ME is chosen by Gary Kirsten after his run in with a Shoaib Akhtar thunderbolt in Lahore.
4) MINE by TAPROOT is a special choice by the West Indies fielders !!!!!!
5) THE ART OF LOSING by AMERICAN HI FI has been selected by the entire Bangladesh cricket team.
6) GIRL TALK by TLC is what the I.C.C. wish to reduce the international cricketers to instead of indulging in heated man-like clashes on the park.
7) SCANDALOUS by MYSTIQUE is the special choice of the Sri Lankan Cricket Board.
8) THE LAST GOODBYE by ATOMIC KITTEN is a typically inspired choice by Steve Waugh.
9) ALL I HAVE by JENNIFER LOPEZ has been specially selected by Paul Adams as a direct consequence of his lack of variation.
10) FORTUNE FADED by RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS is a direct reflection on what happened to Waqar Younis following Pakistan’s early exit from the World Cup.
11) NOT TODAY by MARY J. BLIGE has been selected by Ashley Giles as that is his wicket taking prospects on a daily basis.
12) LEAVE RIGHT NOW by WILL YOUNG. I could not resist adding Rudolph Straeuli’s favourite song to the list.
13) ONE MORE CHANCE by MICHAEL JACKSON is a personal favourite of Lance Klusener at the moment.
14) CRASH THE WEDDING by BUSTED as selected by Andre Nel.
15) 50:50 by LEMAR is a song that reflects the ratio of correct decisions by Darryl Hair.
16) PASS THAT DUTCH by MISSY ELLIOT is exactly what Glenn McGrath was thinking as he decimated the Holland team in Potch during the World Cup.
17) STYLE by MIS-TEEQ is a special selection by Jason Gillespie as he parades around the cricketing world showing no style what-so-ever with that ridiculous mullet.
18) WHITE FLAG by DIDO is perfect for Nasser Hussain as he deserted the England captaincy as Smithy and the boys demoralized him.
19) IMPRINT by DOUBLEDIVE is ideal for Herschelle Gibbs following that Vasbert Drakes delivery that left an imprint of a Kookaburra on his snozz.
20) HOLE IN THE HEAD by SUGABABES is something that Ramnaresh Sarwan might have if he keeps getting sconed.
21) LET’S GET DOWN by BOW WOW has been specially selected for Dave Mohammed as he continuously displays his unique fielding style.
22) ME AGAINST THE MUSIC by BRITNEY SPEARS as selected by Sourav Ganguly should by rights be ‘Me Against the Chin Music’ as fast bowlers around the world continually bomb him.

24) DANCE by JERUSHA is perfect for that very good but very different kiwi umpire Billy Bowden.
