Momberg makes good progess, out of ICU
Cricket South Africa Youth Cricket Manager Niels Momberg is making good progress after being shot in the chest during an attempted hijacking in his driveway on Monday night.
Momberg's brother Altus said his brother had been moved out of the intensive care unit at the Morningside clinic, and was now in a general ward.
"He's still very sore, but he says he's feeling much better," he said.
Momberg, son of former South African Ambassador to Greece, was shot in the chest and the bullet lodged in his arm.
"His doctors say he was very lucky that the bullet didn't hit any vital organs," his brother Altus told Sapa on Tuesday.
The hijackers ran away after shooting Momberg, and nothing was taken.
CSA chief executive Gerald Majola has sent Momberg a message wishing him a speedy recovery.
"Members of the cricket family have called to express their dismay at this unfortunate incident," said Majola.
"We wish Niels a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming
him back to the office soon."
