Hernandez retains WBC title
Adrian Hernandez has retained his WBC junior flyweight belt by beating Dirceu Cabarca on points.
The Mexican won the bout in Tuloca by unanimous decision – 118-110, 118-108 and 119-112.
Cabarca, a little-known Panamanian, put up a courageous challenge asgainst the hometown favourite but his record dropped to 13-7, with 5 knockouts.
Hernandez was cut over his left eye and on his nose as a result of clashes of heads but improved his record to
26-2-1, including 16 knockouts.
On the undercard, lightweight Luis Arceo beat Ricardo Dominquez 96-94 on each of the scorecards to move his record to 26-11-4; 17. Domínguez now stands at 37-9-2; 22.
In a flyweight bout Felipe Salguero improved to 17-4-1; 12 when he stopped Javier Romano (8-17-1; 5) in the fifth round.
In Sante Fe, New Mexico, lightweight John Molina knocked out Dannie Williams in the fourth round to take his professional record to 25-2, with 20 knockouts. Williams now stands at 22-3; 18.
Earlier, super-middleweight Brandon Gonzales improved to 17-0-1; 10 when he beat Don Mouton Don Mouton (11-5-1; 9) over eight rounds.
In Sunrise, Florida, Johan Perez beat former IBF junior lightweight champion Stevie Forbes on a majority decision over ten rounds. The scores were 95-95, 96-94 and 97-93.
The Venezuelan improved to 16-1-1, with 12 knockouts and Forbes dropped to 35-12; 11.
In Indio, California, featherweight Ronny Rios beat former WBA super-bantamweight champion Rico Ramos 96-94, 97-93 and a surprising 100-90.
Rios is still undefeated (20-0; 9) but Ramos dropped to 21-2; 11.
Junior middleweight Daquan Arnett also remained unbeaten by beating Brandon Quarles over eight rounds. Arnett now stands at 10-0; 6 and Quarles at 10-1-1; 2.
Phitsanulok, Thailand: Patomsuk Pathompothong (22-1-1; 13) beat Japan’s Takamori Akita (7-3-1; 5) over twelve rounds to claim the IBF Pan Pacific light-welterweight title. The scores were 117-111 on each of the cards.
Buenos Aires: Argentine heavyweight Hector Alfredo Avila improved to 18-12-1, with 12 knockouts, when he stopped Emilio Ezequiel Zarate (15-9-3; 8) in the seventh round.
Tokyo: Shino Ono moved to 14-5-2; 2 and won the vacant OPBF light-flyweight title when he beat Omari Kimweri (12-2; 4) on a split decision. Light-middleweight Akio Shibata (19-7-1; 8) stopped Takayuki Hosakawa (22-9-3; 7) in a bout for the Japanese light-middleweight title.
