Klitschko KO'd by chicken salad
Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko had to receive emergency treatment after eating a chicken salad.
The IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO champion had to call an ambulance during the night and was put on a drip after being knocked out by the salad he enjoyed in a Hamburg restaurant.
The 36-year-old Klitschko was laid low for several days last week after the evening meal in the fashionable St Pauli district, reported a German daily newspaper, Bild.
The Ukrainian, who lives in Hamburg, was one of a group of four who were all ill after eating the same food at the same restaurant.
Klitschko, who retained his titles when he beat Mariusz Wach in Hamburg on November 10, was back on his feet two days after the illness. He has since attended an event in Ukraine.
GOODBYE TO MACHO
Meanwhile, family and friends of Hector "Macho" Camacho said goodbye to the former champion at a memorial service in Puerto Rico on Tuesday, reports Sapa-AP.
The service was held in an indoor basketball court draped in black carpeting and black curtains. Camacho’s body was in an open casket dressed in white and with a large, gold crucifix.
His mother wept, caressed his face and cried out as she said goodbye a few minutes before the start of the service.
Camacho died last Saturday, about four days after he was shot along with a friend in his hometown of Bayamon. His lawyer has said the funeral and burial will be in New York but details have not been announced.
Hundreds of Puerto Ricans filed into the arena to pay their last respects. The wake was attended by government officials and a host of people from the boxing world; fight officials as well as more than 20 former world champions.
Some of the former boxers called Camacho a source of great pride for their island territory.
"Each and every one of us, the world champions, feel proud of what Camacho did for boxing. Not only was he was one of the best fighters ever to come from this island, but also of the world's best," said Puerto Rican great Felix Trinidad.
