Ibragimov stops Singh in tenth

Timur Ibragimov stopped Gurchuran Singh in the tenth round of a bout between 1996 Olympians in Hollywood on Tuesday night.

Ibragimov, of Uzbekistan, and Singh boxed at a dull pace until the ninth round, when Ibragimov hurt his Indian opponent with a right to the head and followed with two more that sent Singh to the canvas.

Singh answered the bell for the tenth round, but Ibragimov maintained the pressure and dropped Singh again with another right to the head.

Ibragimov landed a series of jabs and hurt Singh with more rights to the head before referee Frank Santore stopped the bout 1 minute 45 seconds into the round.

Ibragimov improved his record 29-2-1 with 16 knockouts. He has won eight straight fights since consecutive losses to Calvin Brock and Tony Thompson in 2006 and 2007.

Singh lost his unbeaten record in dropping to 20-1.
