Date set for Peter v Klitschko

Samuel Peter has been given a chance to challenge Wladimir Klitschko for his heavyweight titles. They will meet in Frankfurt on September 11.

Klitschko's management announced in Berlin on Friday that the holder of the IBF, WBO and IBO belts had lined up the Nigerian to replace Russian Alexander Povetkin, whom he was scheduled to fight.

Povetkin, a former Olympic champion, failed to appear at a recent news conference to promote the open-air fight at Frankfurt's football stadium.

Klitschko said on Friday his previous fight against Peter in 2005 had been "one of the hardest of my career."

Peter knocked the Ukrainian Klitschko down three times before losing on points.

Klitschko has a record of 54 victories in 57 fights and Peter stands at 34-3.

Sapa-AFP reports that WBA super-featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama will fight Roy Mukhlis of Indonesia in September.

The bout, Uchiyama's second defence of the title he wrested from Juan Carlos Salgado of Mexico with a technical knockout in January, will take place at the Saitama Super Arena on September 20.

Uchiyama retained the title in May by beating Angel Granados of Venezuela, also by technical knockout.

"I've prepared for the fight as usual. I'm going to fight with an imperturbable mind. I will study his vulnerable and strong points from now on," Uchiyama, 30, said in Tokyo on Friday.

Uchiyama is unbeaten after 15 professional bouts, including 12 KOs. Mukhlis, 23 years old and ranked fifth by the WBA, has 23 wins, including 18 KOs, against two defeats and two draws.
