Montiel remains the boss



Fernando Montiel retain his WBC and WBO bantamweight titles when he knocked out Rafael Concepcion in Mexico at the weekend.

Montiel, improving his record to 43-2-2, including 33 knockouts, had the challenger on the floor twice in the second round and won 67 seconds after the start of the third.

Concepcion dropped to 14-5-2; 8.

On the same bill in Chiapas, Michael Medina improved to 24-2-2; 19 when he stopped Gilberto Hernandez (14-5, 10 KOs) in the fourth round of a junior middleweight bout.

In Atlantic City, 37-year-old former heavyweight champion David Tua drew over twelve rounds with Monte Barrett to take his record to 51-3-2; 43.

Barrett, who stands at 34-9-1; 20, knocked Tua down in the final round.

In Rancho Mirage, California Timothy Bradley beat Luis Carlos Abregu on points in a welterweight bout.

Bradley, the WBO junior welterweight champion, won by 118-110, 117-111 and 116-112, taking his record to 25-0; 11.

Abregu now stands at 29-0; 23.

In a junior middleweight bout, Alfredo Angulo (19-1, 16 KOs) stopped Joachim Alcine out in the opening round. The official time was two minutes 59 seconds.

In Mendoza, Argentina, Juan Carlos Reveco retained his WBA light-flyweight belt when he stopped Armando Torres in the fifth round.

Reveco improved to 24-1; 14 in an impressive performance. Torres dropped to 13-6; 8.
