King Koki remains on WBA throne

Koki Kameda retained his WBA bantamweight title when he beat Nouldie Manakane in Yokohama on Wednesday.

The Japanese fighter won by unanimous decision, dominating his Indonesian opponent throughout the 12-round bout at Yokohama Arena.

Making the fourth defence of the title he won in December 2010, Kameda improved his professional record to 28-1, with 17 knockouts.

Manakane’s record fell to 24-11-1; including 15 knockouts.

On the same bill, Tepparith Singwangcha from Thailand stopped Japanese challenger Tomonobu Shimizu to retain his WBA super-flyweight title.

The bout ended 2 minutes and 15 seconds into the ninth round.

The 23-year-old Thai, who had defeated Japan's Daiki Kameda in December in his first defence of the title, stretched his record to 18 wins, including 11 knockouts, against two defeats.

The 30-year-old Shimizu’s record now stands at 19 wins, including nine knockouts, against four defeats and a draw.
