Elite athletes sign up for 10km series

Some of South Africa's top runners will compete for honours in the Johannesburg leg of the Spar Women's 10km Challenge in Randburg on October 10, organisers announced on Wednesday.

Irvette van Blerk, the winner of the Pretoria and Durban legs at the weekend, Rene Kalmer, who struggled in both of those races after leading the series following the first two legs, and the diminutive Poppy Mlambo have all been confirmed for the fifth leg of the popular series.

The first 9 000 women to register will receive a t-shirt and the first 9 000 to finish will receive a medal and goodie bag.

Entries are available from all stores in the supermarket chain, and will also be taken online at www.spar.co.za.
