Borzakovsky to miss the Worlds

Yury Borzakovsky, the 2004 Olympic 800m champion, will miss the Athletics World Championships in Moscow, Russia's chief coach Valentin Maslakoiv said on Wednesday.

"Borzakovsky has recently caught a cold and had a fever for almost four days," Maslakov told the press.

"He told me that he thinks he'll be unable to produce a classy performance and decided to withdraw from competing at his home world championships."

At the last month's Russian championships, the 32-year-old Borzakovsky insisted he was not planning on retiring at the end of this year.
