Russian long jumper handed doping ban

Russian long jumper Tatyana Kotova has been provisionally suspended after a re-analysis of a sample dating back to the 2005 World Championships came back positive, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency announced on Friday.

A statement on RUSADA's website said: "The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), after hearing back from the Wada-accredited Laboratory in Lausanne, initiated a review of a possible anti-doping rule violation by Russian athlete Tatyana Kotova."

The statement added that the sample was taken on August 10, 2005, during the World Championships in Helsinki.

RUSADA said that Kotova "has been suspended from participating in any capacity in a training camp or competition as of January 29, 2013 until the decision has been rendered on the case."

A three-time world indoor champion, Kotova has also won three outdoor World Championship silver medals – including at Helsinki in 2005 – and one bronze medal.

In addition, she won silver at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2004 Athens Games.
