Croatia's high jump star Vlasic delays return
Croatia's double high jump world champion Blanka Vlasic, absent from competition since September 2011 with a foot injury, said on Friday she had delayed her return.
Vlasic, who was forced to skip the 2012 London Olympics, was planning to compete at the indoor meet in Split at the end of this month.
But the 29-year-old told her personal website: "The latest trainings have shown that I need more time."
She now intends making a comeback at the start of the 2013 outdoor season.
Vlasic underwent surgery on her left foot last April - two months after she had undergone surgery on an Achilles tendon.
But she caught a bacteria that caused an infection and forced her to postpone the return.
Vlasic is a double world indoor champion and Beijing 2008 Olympic silver medallist.
