Isinbayeva to resume vaulting July 10

Olympic champion Yelena Isinbayeva says she is at 90 percent of her best shape and intends to resume pole vaulting at a small meet in France on July 10, less than four weeks ahead of her competition at the Olympics.

The Russian will be going for her third straight Olympic title in London, an unprecedented feat for a female athlete.

She said on Saturday that she decided to skip the early meets and this week's European Championships because at age 30 it is tough for her to peak twice in a season.

She will instead start slowly and open at the Sotteville meet in northern France before following up with her only big pre-Olympic competition at the Monaco Herculis meeting in Monaco on July 20.
