SA swimming team claim silver and bronze
Another sparkling performance from the South African swimming team at the final day of the Sette Colli Championships in Rome on Saturday night.
The competition concluded with the team collecting a total of two gold, one silver and two bronze medals from the three-day event.
The final of the 800m freestyle race saw Wendy Trott swim to the silver medal ahead of Denmark's Lotte Friis. Trott clocked 8:25.71 to Friis' 8:22.10.
It was bronze for Chad le Clos in the 200m individual medley, which saw Brazil's Thiago Pereira claim the gold with a new championship record of 1:57.94. Le Clos touched the wall in 2:00.03
Karin Prinsloo finished in fourth place in the 200m freestyle with a time of 1:58.53, with another fourth position going to Devon Brown in the 1500m freestyle event in 15:21.98.
In the B Finals of the 200m backstroke, Charl Crous ended in seventh place in 2:05.04.
With 19 medals from the Mare Nostrum Series and five medals from the Sette Colli Championships, the SA swimming team will now be heading to Pescara for a training camp from 18 June to 8 July before they move on to the final pre-Olympic training camp in Monaco from 8 to 22 July.
