Biaggi undone by chatter issues
Max Biaggi was left to lament the chatter woes that cost him a sizable chuck of his Championship lead after failing to reach the podium in Brno.
Qualifying down in 14th place, the 11-time Brno winner had no answer for those ahead in the opening half of Race One where he had to contend with trying to make up ground on a damp track.
But, as the surface dried out, the Aprilia rider found some pace and worked his way up to sixth.
That, though, still cost him dearly as his main rival in the Championship, Marco Melandri, won the race.
In Race Two, Biaggi was able to make even more progress, improving from 14th to fourth in a hard-fought ride.
However, once again it was Melandri who claimed the victory, cutting Biaggi's lead in the riders' standings from 48 to 21 points.
"Unfortunately we couldn't do any better than we did," said the Roman Emperor.
"We had some big problems with chattering which compromised every move I made. In Race Two I tried not to lose touch with the front pack, but I just couldn't maintain their pace.
"I was already at the limit as if it were the last lap.
"We still haven't figured out what the problem is, since both the bike and the set-up are very similar to what we were using at Aragon.
"I just hope that we don't have the same problem in the rounds to come."
